Qualities of an Investor
It's important to remember that information
itself is not the key to successful investing. If this were the case, then anyone
could make money. Truly great investors must be able to think for themselves;
discerning meaningful information from hype or opinion. Critical thinking is
just one of the qualities needed to become a truly great investor. There are
several other qualities that come to mind when I think of a successful investor:
Discipline and Self Control
Honesty
Integrity
Consistency
Patience
Curiousity
Intelligence
Vision
Attention to Detail
Appreciation of History
Humility
No doubt I have left several more off the list. The point of this is not to
list all imagineable characteristics of successful investors. It is to simply
realize that not 1 single trait is needed but instead a combination of several.
Becoming a great investor is not something that you can expect to just happen.
Rather, it is an outward reflection of these inner qualities.
